Beginning the process of therapy can be daunting and messy. You may be feeling alone while struggling with anxiety, depression, and possibly some negative self talk such as I’m not good enough, I’m a failure, a burden, etc. If that’s the case, I am here to tell you that you are not alone. Many individuals struggle with these things and having someone to talk to about it can really help! Whatever you are going through right now, is hard and likely overwhelming. By identifying the emotions, naming the beliefs, and learning “the why” behind what is happening for you, you will be able to gain a sense of control and power over your situation and with that the ability to change it. As Brené Brown said “owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do” so if you’re ready to dive in and be brave, I am ready to guide you through it!

Why I do this work

Hello! I’m Katie and I am really looking forward to meeting you! I am originally from the east coast but was raised in California and my therapeutic style represents my roots. I have a casual laid back personality mixed with some keeping it real east coast energy. I strongly believe in the power of relationship to aid the healing process and greatly value authenticity. I show up as my full self and am not your typical “tell me how that makes you feel” kind of therapist. Having been through my own trauma work, I know what it is like to be on the other side of the couch and have profound empathy for it. As a result of this, I have been able to take a post traumatic growth lens that helps people honor their pain, make meaning of their circumstances, and have a more connected and fulfilling life experience.

The best part of my job

The best part of my job is hands down getting to know my clients, witnessing the resilience, and being a part of their healing.

How I spend my free time

When I am not in my office, you might find me traveling, swimming, ice skating, scuba diving, riding my vespa through the mountains or along the coast, watching or reading a good murder mystery and of course, snuggling with my pets.
